For Keeley's family, Motor Mouth Camp changed the way they listen.
Variety Star Shape

Keeley has a cheeky sense of humour and a determined streak - especially when there is camp currency involved. Over three days at Motor Mouth Camp, something quietly shifted in how she and her family understood each other.

Keeley's Mission
At Motor Mouth Camp, Keeley quickly discovered the camp store and set herself a mission: to earn as many camp dollars as possible.
“She kept smirking at people to get more money out of them.”
- Lee-Ann, Keeley's mum
Behind the cheeky moments was something more deeper. Keeley can't always rely on speech, and before camp, communication often meant her mum trying to interpret what she needed, wanted or was feeling.
The shift that changed everything
Across the weekend, surrounded by therapists, other AAC users and families who understood, Keeley began forming stronger sentences and expressing herself more clearly. For Lee-Ann, it reframed the way she thought about her daughter's communication entirely.
“Before, I didn't really see it as a second language. But now I understand - it's Keeley's first language, and we're the ones learning it.”
- Lee-Ann, Keeley's mum
That shift changed everything - how the family listens, understands, and connects.
“It encouraged us to understand Keeley's communication.”
- Lee-Ann, Keeley's mum
Why this matters
For families like Keeley’s, Motor Mouth Camp creates the conditions for real change. It’s not just about techniques - it’s about the moment a family stops trying to translate their child and starts learning their language instead.
