IGA Kimberley ausbike education Program

The IGA Kimberley Ausbike Program delivers essential riding skills and road-safety training to children in some of Western Australia’s most remote communities.
Variety Squiggle Shape - red heart
Delivered by AusCycling, with support from IGA and Variety WA, the program brings qualified instructors, bikes and equipment directly into schools, creating access to safe riding experiences that many children would not otherwise have.
This collaboration helps overcome the logistical challenges of delivering equipment, training and support across remote Western Australia - ensuring children have access to the same opportunities regardless of where they live.

What is the IGA Kimberley ausBike Program?

This program provides structured, hands-on bike education designed to build confidence, independence and practical life skills.

Developed in response to local need, the program removes barriers such as access to equipment, safe riding environments and trained instruction, ensuring children in regional and remote communities can participate fully.

What does the program include?

The program includes bike education and road-safety training delivered in a practical, school-based setting. Children are provided with access to bikes, helmets and equipment, and are guided by qualified instructors through structured sessions designed to build skills, confidence and safe riding habits.
Why this program matters
For many children in the Kimberley, access to safe bikes and structured riding instruction has been limited.

By bringing the program directly into schools, children can learn to ride safely, build confidence and gain greater independence, supporting both physical wellbeing and a stronger connection to community.
