Yes, you can still apply. However, you must first check whether the item can be funded through your NDIS plan or another program. Variety supports children where funding is unavailable, insufficient or has been declined.
Parents and caregivers of children aged 0–18 years (17 at the time of application) living in Western Australia can apply. Schools, community organisations and service providers supporting eligible children may also apply. You may be asked to show that other funding options have been explored.
Applications are usually assessed within 6–8 weeks of the closing date. You will be notified
of the outcome by email once a decision has been made.
Variety generally does not fund:
• Servicing or maintenance of equipment
• Technical support
• Insurance or extended warranties
• Therapy or diagnostic assessments (including ADHD or ASD assessments)
• General living expenses (such as rent or bills)
• Items purchased before approval
Applications must be submitted and approved before any items are purchased
Applications are assessed based on:
• Financial need and level of disadvantage
• The impact and necessity of the support requested
• Family or community circumstances
• Alignment with Variety WA’s mission

No. If your application is approved, Variety pays the supplier or service provider directly. This ensures the equipment is purchased safely and used for its intended purpose.
